Building Regulations Part L states that it is no longer acceptable to control the whole house from a single temperature controller, or to heat the whole house all day while many rooms are not in use. It is wasteful of Energy and money and produces more of the “greenhouse” gases which contribute to global warming.
Intelli Heat users can optimise individually their thermostat settings, up to 16 Heating Zones to save Heating costs and conserve energy. Intelli heat electric radiators are fully complying with Building regulations Part L1 & 2, Conservation of Fuel and power in a new dwellings, Energy efficiency requirements. This Approved Document L1A comes into force
on 1 October 2010 in support of the Building
and Approved Inspectors (Amendment)
Regulations 2010, SI 2010 No. 719. The main
changes to the legal requirements and the
supporting guidance since the issue of the
previous Approved Document L1A
Important Considerations for Compliance
Installation: To ensure compliance, radiators should be hard-wired rather than plugged into a standard socket to comply with Part L requirements for fixed building services.
Notional Design: While electric panel heaters are 100% efficient at the point of use, they may not meet the “notional” building targets in SAP for new developments; ceramic or high-retention radiators are often required to pass compliance.
Bathroom Zones: Electric radiators used in bathrooms must have a minimum IPX4 rating (IPX7 for zones inside showers).
