How does this work? 

A great question, as Intelli Heat have used their existing 20 years of experience in Smart Electric Heating to develop inbuilt motion detectors in each radiator, which can feed back accurate and precise information to your personal APP dashboard about the usage of every radiator in every room in your house. 

This means: that grannies room which is permanently occupied can remain at 21.5 degrees, while the kitchen and bathroom can be reduced to 15.5 degrees, shutting off when no one is in the room, and turning on again as soon as motion is detected. In 2021 our connected products used an average of 70% of energy (30% lower than log, oil and night storage-heating systems)  across our product ranges. 

With our recent new developments, producing even more energy efficient products, we are aiming for a minimum of up to 60%. This is because we are one of the very few Smart electric heating manufacturers who use Ecodesign energy efficient features and we are leading the way in providing you the consumer with sustainable and eco-friendly products.
The long term trends for energy supply in the UK means that the drive for sustainable, electric heating will continue at pace, and the aim for all housing providers as well as home owners, must be to ensure an energy efficient warm home for everyone, no matter the size or council tax band of the property.

All electric radiators are 100% efficient at point of use, which simply means all of the power drawn from the wall socket is converted into heat, but in addition to this, the electric radiators that possess advanced energy management features can lower running costs even further. 

To comply with the current Regulation Lot 20 Eco-design, all local-space heaters are required to meet a minimum of 38% energy efficiency rating expressed as a percentage. This differs between specific heater categories; however, most electric radiators will begin with a base rating of 30%. From 1st January 2018 all electric space heaters sold in the UK must meet a set of minimum efficiency standards, this means that at the very least all heaters will have to incorporate intelligent room temperature controls to minimise wasted energy and comply with Energy Related Products Regulations (ERP) (Energy-related Products) Products within scope must meet a minimum 38% Energy Efficiency rating to fully comply. The regulation calculation for a ‘fixed electric space heater’ which is the terminology for a wall-mounted electric radiator, and this example below shows exactly why the energy-saving features of one of our i-Sense Radiators, is a stunning 40%.

Open Window Detection = saving 5% 
When any window is opened in winter, while the electric radiators are on, the sudden drop in temperature is detected by the individual programmer in each radiator and will automatically switch off the radiators concerned, to avoid wasting energy. In the event you accidentally leave a door or window open the radiator switches to anti-frost mode until it detects a rise in temperature, saving on your energy bills. This is vital when someone leaves the bedroom window open and then goes out all day. Or in a large office building, when Mr Jones goes home early on Friday and leaves the office window open all weekend. The intelligent eco sensor will react to any temperature variations in each room, if a door or window is open and cold air rushes in, the intelligent radiator will react to this temperature change and will not switch on again until the temperature stabilises, indicating that the door or window has been closed.

Adaptive Start Technology = saving 3% 

This is an option in every individual radiator, allowing you to choose whether to prioritise comfort or eco savings. In eco savings mode, the radiator will slightly reduce the temperature at the start and end of each heating time period, for example: Select a programme with comfort temperatures from 6am to 8am, 12pm to 2pm and 6pm to 10 pm. The smart electric radiator will then automatically operate in eco-energy savings mode in between those times, giving you the lowest possible energy use every day. The times can be chosen of course, to suit your family lifestyle and individual needs and it will also automatically react to any change in the temperatures outside without you needing to turn it up when the winter drops below freezing! 

Occupancy Detection = saving 3% 

The sensor detector on the front of every radiator will detect the movement of people in the room and the non-movement when no one is home. When there is an absence of movement, the temperature will slowly decrease – saving energy and reducing your heating bills while no one is home. Optimising occupancy detection can help reduce energy cost and carbon footprint.

Self-learning mode = saving 3% 

Self-learning programming uses an infrared sensor and SMART technology to learn your weekly routine and adapt a personalised heating schedule to suit. For the first 7 days, every radiator will memorise your family lifestyle and habits to calculate a 7-day programme to give you maximum comfort while you are home and maximum savings while you are not. Perhaps you visit the gym every Friday before getting home, so the radiators will delay switching on until 20 minutes before you arrived home the Friday before. It constantly learns your individual family behaviours and constantly adjusts to provide you with the maximum energy savings, hour by hour and day by day. Walking the dog every morning for 30 minutes, the temperatures will automatically switch to eco-saving, and back again to comfort temperature when you return from your walk
The amazing Self-learning feature saves energy without you having to spend any time fiddling about and programming your radiators, The radiator can detect when there is no movement in the room and will then suggest a possible energy saving to you by sending you a message via the APP asking if you wish the programme to self-adjust to save you energy at these times. Following a seven day period of sensing your routine, the self-learning feature will switch on whenever you are expected to be home and switch off again at the times you’re normally away, keeping you warm and comfortable when you need it, without wasting a single watt of energy when you’re away.

7 Day/Daily Multi Zone minute Programming = saving 3% 

Each electric radiator has a function to prevent users from changing the heat setting above or below your desired temperature. It works as a Master control, so that in Hotels and Offices, you can prevent users from setting their room from extremely high or low temperatures, causing frost problems for the structure of the building or a ridiculous amount of energy wastage. For example: You can set the maximum temperature to 23.2 degrees and the minimum temperature to 17.3 degrees, giving the user in each hotel room, or office, a full range of personal choice in between these temperatures. This works seamlessly with the self-learning program, to ensure that energy wastage in unoccupied rooms is minimalised. As each room is its own ‘zone,’ this represents large potential energy savings. For example, if the heating is programmed to be on across the whole building, and half the rooms or offices are out for a few hours, the system will recognise this and reduce the set temperature. On their individual return to each room or office, the radiator/s in that room will automatically power back to the original setting.

Accurate set-point Temperature Limit Setting = saving 5% 

Each electric radiator has a Temperature Limit Setting, Rental Housing PIN Code Lock function to prevent users from changing the heat setting above or below your desired temperature. This means that in Hotels and Offices, you can prevent users from setting their room from extremely high or low temperatures, causing frost problems or energy wastage.
For example: Set the maximum temperature to 23.2 degrees and the minimum temperature to 17.5 degrees, giving the user a full range of personal choice in between these temperatures.

Our electric radiators can be controlled in 2 different ways: with their own built-in 7 day LCD touch screen thermostat programmers that enable scheduled times and temperatures to be set minute by minute for each day, with a different program for each day, and seven pre-set programs. Or via the iSENSE dedicated online and mobile App that connects each radiator to an app on your smartphone, iPad, and personal computer, which enables you to keep track of your energy use in each room minute by minute. The Smart wireless control uses a secure cloud based dashbord to help become more energy efficient, the iSense Smart energy savings assistant will choose your heating priority for self-learning mode and adjust to your lifestyle or to energy saving program and settings accordingly.
